Our Strategy

The Trust Board has agreed the following Warwickshire-wide objectives, which help us guide, prioritise and focus our efforts for the year.

Our objectives consist of four Big Moves. These are underpinned by six strategic pillars and will enable us to deliver against those Big Moves.

The framework for the development of these objectives reflects the closer alignment of George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, and the need for more integrated Warwickshire-wide working.

Big Moves

We have identified five big moves we will make as an organisation to create healthier, happier lives. Delivering these big moves will be through organisational plans, and measured as part of annual objectives.

BIG MOVE : Be a very flexible employer

BIG MOVE : Supporting Domiciliary Care

BIG MOVE : Lead the NHS in carbon reduction

BIG MOVE : Embed prevention in every service

BIG MOVE : Home First supported by technology and collaboration

Strategic pillars

Digital

  • Enable digital-by-default care by successfully implementing the Electronic Patient Record and strengthening digital innovation and collaboration, taking learnings from AI pilots and local initiatives.

Productivity

  • Optimise services and pathways to reduce hospital admissions and length of stay, while improving access to diagnostics and elective care.
  • Explore opportunities to implement single corporate functions across GEH and SWFT.

Workforce

  • Refresh our Trusts’ workforce plan in response to the NHS 10 Year Plan to equip staff with the skills and tools to deliver high-quality care.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive working environment by acting on reports of discriminatory, abusive, violent or sexually inappropriate behaviour.

Quality

  • Review clinical governance and patient experience functions to embed robust service transformation programmes that drive outstanding, well-led care.

Financial Sustainability

  • Drive financial sustainability by enhancing service performance and maximising strategic estates opportunities in line with our Big Moves.

Research

  • Review and refresh our research approach, incorporating joint working across SWFT and GEH, and broader collaboration with the Foundation Group and local universities.
